RFC-676 First Use Guide — Setting Up and Getting the Best Results
Share
You've just received your Oneisall RFC-676 — here's exactly how to set it up and get the best results from your first session. Following these steps properly makes a significant difference to the finish quality and your dog's experience.
Step 1: Charge Fully Before First Use
Before using the RFC-676 for the first time, charge it to 100%. The LCD display will show a full battery icon when complete. A full initial charge takes approximately 2.5 hours via the included USB-C cable. Don't use the clipper while charging — wait for the full charge.
First use on a depleted or partial charge reduces battery performance over the long term. Lithium batteries develop better capacity memory when fully charged before first use.
Step 2: Oil the Blade Before Use
Apply 2–3 drops of the included blade oil to the teeth of the blade before the first use. Run the clipper for 10 seconds to distribute the oil. This is not optional — an unlubricated blade runs hotter, cuts less smoothly, and wears out faster.
Re-oil after every grooming session. This single habit extends blade life dramatically — a well-oiled blade stays sharp 3–4× longer than a neglected one.
Step 3: Select the Right Guard Comb
The RFC-676 comes with four guard combs: 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm. For first-time use on a thick-coated dog, always start with the longest guard (12mm). You can always go shorter — you cannot undo a cut that's too short.
General guidance for common Indian breeds:
| Breed | Recommended Starting Guard |
|---|---|
| Golden Retriever | 12mm (body), 9mm (chest/neck thinning) |
| Husky / Malamute | 12mm or no guard (just thinning) |
| German Shepherd | 9mm or 12mm |
| Samoyed | 12mm (thinning only) |
| Border Collie | 9mm |
Step 4: Introduce the Clipper to Your Dog First
Don't turn the clipper on and go straight to grooming on the first session — especially with a dog who's never been clipped before. Follow this desensitisation sequence:
- Let your dog sniff the clipper while it's off — 2 minutes
- Turn it on nearby without touching the dog — let them hear it and see it's not a threat — 2 minutes
- Touch the running clipper (blade guard on) to the dog's back briefly — reward with a treat immediately
- Do short 5-minute trial runs before the first full session
The RFC-676's under-55dB noise is a significant advantage here. Most dogs that are anxious around louder clippers are noticeably calmer with the RFC-676's quieter motor.
Step 5: Brush Completely Before Clipping
The RFC-676 handles thick coats, but it is not designed to cut through mats. Any matted area must be brushed or worked out before clipping — trying to clip through a mat will pull the skin and cause discomfort. Thorough pre-clip brushing is the single most important preparation step.
Step 6: Clip in the Direction of Hair Growth
Always clip with the direction of hair growth, not against it. Clipping against the grain cuts shorter than the guard suggests and can leave an uneven, patchy finish on thick coats. Follow the natural lay of the fur from neck to tail, working in long smooth strokes.
Step 7: Keep Moving — Don't Linger
Move the clipper steadily and consistently. Pausing in one spot concentrates heat from the blade on a small skin area — this can cause mild discomfort even on a well-oiled blade. If the blade feels warm to the touch, spray it with clipper coolant or pause for 30 seconds before continuing.
Step 8: Clean and Oil After Every Session
- Switch off the clipper
- Remove the guard comb
- Use the included cleaning brush to remove all hair from the blade teeth
- Rinse the blade under running water (the RFC-676 is IPX6 waterproof — the whole unit can be rinsed)
- Dry with a cloth
- Apply 2–3 drops of blade oil and run for 10 seconds to distribute
- Store with the blade guard on
Following this routine after every session means your RFC-676 blade stays sharp and the motor stays clean. Blade replacement is rarely needed when the clipper is properly maintained.
