Your Neakasa P2 Pro has just arrived. Here's exactly how to set it up, introduce it to your dog, and get the best possible results from your very first session.

Step 1: Charge Before First Use

Charge the P2 Pro fully before the first session. Connect via the included USB cable — a full charge takes approximately 3 hours. The LED indicator on the unit turns solid when fully charged. Don't use the unit while charging.

Step 2: Familiarise Yourself with the Attachments

The P2 Pro comes with 5 attachments. Understand what each does before you start:

Grooming clipper Trimming and cutting coat length on short/medium coats
Deshedding brush Removing loose undercoat from thick-coated breeds
Grooming brush Daily brushing while capturing loose fur
Cleaning nozzle Vacuuming loose fur from dog bed, crate, and floor

Step 3: Oil the Clipper Blade

Before the first use, apply 2–3 drops of the included blade oil to the clipper attachment teeth and run it for 10 seconds. This distributes the oil and ensures a smooth first cut. Re-oil after every grooming session — this is the single most important maintenance habit for blade longevity.

Step 4: Introduce the P2 Pro to Your Dog

Don't go straight into grooming on the first session — especially with a dog that's never experienced a vacuum near them. Follow this sequence over 2–3 short sessions:

  1. Day 1: Place the P2 Pro on the floor near your dog's feeding area while off. Let them sniff it freely. Reward with treats when they approach calmly. Leave it there for a day.
  2. Day 2: Turn the unit on in the same room but don't move it toward the dog. Let them hear it and observe it's not a threat. Reward calm behaviour with treats.
  3. Day 3: With the unit running, gently touch the hose (not an attachment, just the hose) to your dog's back briefly. Treat immediately. Gradually build to short 5-minute grooming sessions.

Most dogs adapt within 3–5 sessions. The P2 Pro's 58–65 dB noise level is moderate — louder than standalone clippers because of the vacuum motor, but most dogs adjust well with patient introduction.

Step 5: Choose the Right Guard for the Clipper Attachment

The clipper attachment comes with guards: 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm. For first-time use, always start with the longest guard (12mm). You can always go shorter — you can't undo a cut that's too short.

  • Labradors: 9mm or 12mm
  • Shih Tzus / Pomeranians: 6mm or 9mm depending on desired length
  • Cats: 9mm or 12mm — go slowly and use gentle suction

Step 6: Brush the Coat Completely Before Using Any Attachment

Never use the P2 Pro on an unbrUshed coat. Mats will jam the clipper attachment and cause painful pulling. A thorough brush-out before every session is not optional — it's the most important preparation step. Work through any tangles, then use the P2 Pro for grooming and fur capture.

Step 7: Start with the Deshedding or Grooming Brush Attachment

For first sessions, use the deshedding brush or grooming brush attachment rather than the clipper. These are gentler, don't cut the coat, and help your dog associate the P2 Pro with a normal brushing experience. Once your dog is comfortable, introduce the clipper attachment.

Step 8: Empty the Canister Mid-Session if Needed

The 1.5L canister handles one full session for most breeds. For large, heavily-shedding dogs (Huskies, Goldens in full shed), check the fill level mid-session and empty if it reaches 80% capacity. A full canister reduces suction noticeably — you'll hear the pitch of the motor change. Emptying takes 20 seconds.

Step 9: Clean After Every Session

  1. Remove and empty the canister
  2. Remove the clipper attachment and clean the blade with the included brush
  3. Apply 2–3 drops of blade oil and run for 10 seconds
  4. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth
  5. Store the attachments in the included bag

Replacing Consumables

The clipper blade, HEPA filter, and sponge filter are consumable parts. We recommend replacing the HEPA filter every 3–6 months depending on use frequency, and the sponge filter every 6 months.
