How to Set Up the Agromato Wi-Fi Smart Irrigation Timer — Step by Step
Share
You've got a garden tap. You've got a phone. What if your garden could water itself — on a schedule you set, from anywhere in the world? That's exactly what the Agromato Wi-Fi Smart Irrigation Timer (AM-21187 + AM-21189) does.
This guide walks you through the complete setup, from unboxing to your first automated watering session.

What's in the Box
The kit includes two parts that work together: the AM-21187 timer head (the unit that screws onto your tap) and the AM-21189 Wi-Fi hub (a small socket-powered bridge that connects the timer to your home network). Both are required — the timer alone won't connect to Wi-Fi without the hub.

Step 1 — Install the Timer on Your Tap
The timer fits any standard Indian garden tap using the included universal adapter. Screw on the adapter first, then hand-tighten the timer head. No tools needed. Make sure the tap is closed before you attach it.

Step 2 — Plug in the Wi-Fi Hub
The AM-21189 hub plugs into any standard 5V USB socket or phone charger. Place it within 10 metres of your garden tap and within range of your home Wi-Fi router. The hub needs to stay powered at all times for remote control to work.

Step 3 — Download the App and Connect
Download the Irrigazione app (available on Android and iOS). Open the app, create a free account, and follow the in-app pairing instructions. The app will guide you to press the hub's pairing button and enter your Wi-Fi password. The whole process takes about 3 minutes.

Step 4 — Set Your Watering Schedule
Once connected, the app gives you full control. You can set start time, duration (from 1 minute to several hours), frequency (daily, every X days, or specific days of the week), and manual on/off to open or close the valve instantly.

Step 5 — Connect to Alexa or Google Home (Optional)
The timer works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Once your device is set up in the Irrigazione app, open your Alexa or Google Home app and search for the skill. Once linked, you can control watering with a simple voice command.

Tips for Best Results
Water early morning between 5AM and 8AM — less evaporation, healthier roots. Keep the hub indoors or sheltered as it is not weatherproof. A windowsill facing the garden works well. Use the manual button on the timer as a backup — it still works even if Wi-Fi is down. Replace the batteries in the timer head (2x AA) once a year or when the app shows a low battery warning.

Is This the Right Timer for You?
The Wi-Fi timer is the right choice if you travel frequently, have an outdoor garden, and want phone or voice control. If you just need a simple set-and-forget timer for a balcony or terrace, the Agromato Ball Valve Timer at Rs.1,990 is a simpler and more affordable option.
